Just as happened this year, when the Vuelta started in the Lisbon region and had three 'Portuguese' rounds, in 2025 the Spanish race will focus on three exclusively Italian stages, to be held from August 23rd.
The opening day of the next Tour of Spain will start from Turin, more specifically from Reggia di Venaria, towards Novara, in a 183-kilometer connection passing through the Bienca-Tomalino climb.
The second stage, scheduled for August 24th, will connect Alba to Limone Piemonte, where the first high finish of the 90th edition will take place, after 157 kilometers covered.
The final race on Italian soil will be held between San Maurizio Canavese and Ceres, covering a total of 139 kilometers and climbing the Issiglio.
On August 26th, the fourth stage begins in Italian territory, in Susa, with the caravan then heading to Spain, where the race ends on September 14th. The rest of the route will be presented on December 17th, in Madrid.
“The start of the Vuelta in Piedmont, a setting surrounded by mountains, history and natural beauty, expands the list of international places visited by the Spanish race and further strengthens ties between the great European cycling countries,” says the organization's statement.
This will be the sixth time that the Vuelta starts abroad and the first that leaves Italy, after Lisbon hosting the 1997 and 2024 starts, Assen (Netherlands) in 2009, Nîmes (France) in 2017 and Utrecht (Netherlands) in 2017. Lows) to 2022.
In 2026, the Spanish ‘great’ will also start from abroad, more specifically Monaco.
