The Spanish Council of Ministers analysed the implementation of civil protection plans in the areas most affected by the bad weather, as well as the work being carried out on the ground, reported the Efe news agency.
At least 95 people have died in Spain due to the torrential rains and floods that hit the east and south of the country last night, according to the authorities' most recent assessment.
The Valencian Community was the most affected by the storm and the regional government has so far confirmed 92 deaths, in a figure that remains provisional.
There are two more confirmed deaths in Castile-La Mancha and another in Andalusia.
The Spanish government have declared three days of national mourning due to the consequences of the bad weather, stating that there have been "extremely high" personal and material damages, with roads and other infrastructure and buildings damaged or destroyed due to the violence of the waters that flooded entire towns.
The government also asked people in areas affected by the bad weather not to leave their homes and, above all, not to try to travel on the roads, stressing that the storm is still ongoing and its effects continue to be dangerous.
