The new radar in Galicia is located on a road in Pontevedra, passing through the municipality of Vilaboa, on the N-550. In addition to detecting mobile phone use, the radar is equipped to detect speeding offences.

According to the Metropolitano GAL website, cited by Notícias ao Minuto, other practices are also detected, such as seat belt use and crossing solid lines. This is an average speed radar covering approximately two kilometres.

The aim of the radar is to reduce risky behaviour and penalise offenders. Although it is already installed, the radar is not yet operational, unlike the radars installed on the PO-340 and AP-9, which are already detecting offences.
