According to the same source, in Alentejo (Portugal), there were found minerals that may also be found on Spanish territory, namely in Extremadura. The discoveries made can be a key point for geopolitics of energy and advanced technologies.

MiningWatch Portugal states that there are at least four confirmed rare earth deposits in Alentejo: Monforte-Tinoca, Assumar, Crato-Arronches and Penedo Gordo. As well as rare earths, these mines contain valuable minerals such as gold, silver, lead, zinc, tungsten and tin. Geological studies suggest the existence of similar deposits in places such as Los Ibores, Campo Arañuelo, Alía, Burguillos del Cerro and Almendralejo.

The constant growth of interest for these minerals is linked to their importance for technology industry and energy transition. The minerals found can be used for electronic devices, batteries and for producing pieces for electric cars.
