The number of trips made by Spaniards shows an increase of 2.9 per cent when compared to the same period in 2024. Expenditure on travel also rose by 9.7 per cent, with spending totalling 15,202 million euros.
As far as the destination of the trips is concerned, there was a 1.9 per cent increase in national territory in the second quarter. In terms of trips abroad, there was an increase of 11.8 per cent compared to the same period last year,
In terms of spending, expenditure on trips abroad rose by 14.3 per cent, with more than 5 million euros being spent. Travel within the country rose by 7.5 per cent, or close to 10,000 million euros.
More than half of all trips (54.4 per cent) were leisure trips, an increase of 4.9 per cent compared to the same period last year. Trips to family or friends rose by 6.7 per cent. There was, however, a drop (-9%) in the number of business trips.
In terms of accommodation, when it comes to domestic trips, travellers prefer to stay with friends or family, with an increase of 9.9%. When travelling abroad, hotel stays rose by 2.1%.
