The “extraordinary danger” of this storm, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), is concentrated in the Valencian Community, where water accumulations are expected to exceed 250 or 300 litres per square metre between today and the first half of Tuesday, 30 September, and also in Catalonia.
The Ebro Hydrographic Confederation has warned of the possibility of flooding in the Barranco de Lledó, in Tarragona, due to significant accumulations of water in the area.
Also in Tarragona, the rains affecting the region of Montsià have left 400 subscribers in Mas de Barberans without an electricity supply, as reported by the electricity company and published by Civil Protection on the X social network.
The metropolitan area of Valencia, especially in l’Horta Sud - zone zero of the storm of 29 October - experienced strong storms this morning.
Valencia City Council has suspended classes in all educational centres, sports activities organised by the Municipal Sports Foundation and those taking place in social centres (for the elderly, day centres and youth centres).
Municipal sports facilities, the activities of the People’s University, municipal libraries, extraordinary and street markets, parks, gardens and cemeteries will also be closed today.
The storm, which is affecting the Valencian Community and has put the northern coast of the province of Castellón and the coast of Valencia on red alert, has so far left accumulations of up to 151.4 litres per square metre (l/m²) in Suera (Castellón), according to data from the Valencian Meteorological Association (Avamet).
Accumulations of 134 l/m² were also recorded in Aín; 116 l/m² in Tales; 105.2 l/m² in Chovar; and 104.2 l/m² in Cabanes, all in the province of Castellón.
Also, in the province of Castellón, 102.6 l/m² were recorded in La Vall d’Uixó; 95.4 l/m² in Artana; 94.8 in La Vall d’Alba; and 83.4 in Onda.
According to data from the Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAIH), there were also accumulations of 107 litres per square metre in the Onda dam; 104 l/m2 in Traiguera (Castellón); 64.40 in Ayora (Valencia); 61.40 in Villagordo del Cabriel (Valencia); or 58.6 l/m2 in Dos Aguas (Valencia).
In the city of Valencia, according to municipal sources, there were accumulations of 20.8 l/m² in the rain gauge of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), while municipal rain gauges recorded 19 l/m² in Alameda; 23.50 in Benimamet; 29 in Parque de Cabecera; 30, 40 l/m2 in La Torre; 21.25 l/m2 in Mestalla; 23.50 l/m2 in Vara de Quart; or 18.40 l/m2 in Grandes Vías.
