According to Notícias ao Minuto, the biscuits in question are made by Bingqi Foods, a Chinese company, and the warning is specifically for people with allergies or intolerances to milk, soy or sulphites.
“Deficiencies in labelling have been detected, as most of the products involved do not warn of the presence of any of these three allergens: milk, soy or sulphites. Due to the large number of products involved and as a precautionary measure, people with allergies or intolerances to any of these are advised to refrain from consuming them,” reads the AESAN warning, quoted by the same media outlet.
Consumers should check the list of ingredients and, if any of the allergens are not listed, they should be aware that the batch is affected. The biscuits are available in a variety of flavours and come in different weights and designs.
According to the information available, the initial distribution was made to the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Aragon, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Castile-La Mancha, Castile and Leon, Catalonia, Valencia, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Navarre and the Basque Country, although the possibility of redistribution to other autonomous communities cannot be ruled out.
This information was transmitted through the Coordinated Rapid Information Exchange System (SCIRI) in order to verify the withdrawal of the affected products from the marketing channels.
Those who are allergic or intolerant to milk, soy or sulphite components should not consume the biscuits, but the product “does not pose any risk to the rest of the population”.
